Edgar “Ed” Francis Jodon
PLANO. Texas - With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Edgar “Ed” Francis Jodon, who entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 31, 2025, at age 85.
Born Dec. 12, 1939, in Rayne, to Nelson Edgar and Margaret Louise Jodon, Ed was one of four children.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Jodon and wife Kelly of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Swinford and husband Dewayne of Terrell, Texas; siblings Mary Tanner of Crowley, Deyo Jodon and wife Shirley of Eunice, and Ray Jodon and wife Louise of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; grandchildren Colin Coats and wife Meagan, Casey Coats and wife Mary, Sydney, Caitlyn, and Noah Jodon and wife Johnnie; and great-grandchildren Karter, Jack, Cooper, and Cambry Coats.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Carolyn “Khaky” Rue Jodon; and his parents.
Ed was blessed with numerous relatives and a host of dear friends. He brought joy to others with his dad jokes, playful spirit, and love of games.
Ed graduated from Crowley High School in 1957 and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 – 1962. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Khaky. Afterwards, he earned his Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1966 and began a distinguished career — first with Boeing supporting the Apollo 7 space program, then retiring after 20+ years with Texas Instruments.
He continued contracting with Raytheon until finally trading his desk for a motorhome.
Ed and Khaky built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. Longtime residents of Plano, Texas, they co-owned Music Manor, were active members of Meadows Baptist Church, and later joined First Denton after relocating to Isabella Village in Savannah, Texas.
In retirement, they traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada and served over a decade through Campers on Mission, combining their love of ministry and adventure.
Ed’s legacy is one of kindness, faith, and devotion to family. Though we grieve, we do not grieve without hope. We take comfort in knowing he has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Meadows Baptist Church, 3001 Los Rios Blvd, Plano, Texas, with interment at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Campers on Mission of Texas or Meadows Baptist Church.
