Search continues following bomb threat at The Ellington

RAYNE - On Wednesday, July 16, at approximately 7:53 p.m., the Rayne Police Department responded to a call-for-service regarding an anonymous bomb threat called into The Ellington of nursing facility of Rayne, located at 308 Amelia Street.
Officers immediately implemented established protocols, evacuating the building while bomb detection K9s conducted a thorough search.
No explosive devices were located and the residents returned inside the building.
In addition to the Rayne Police Department, assisting were the Rayne Volunteer Fire Department, Acadia Parish Sheriff, Rayne City Marshal and Acadian Ambulance.
An active investigation is underway to identify the individual responsible for the threat.
